Assist in the design of new products and changes to current products to meet or exceed customer expectations.

• Design product(s) utilizing engineering principles, apply best practices, lesson learned and innovative design techniques to achieve a reliable product at competitive price.
• Proactively identify areas within the project/product which might cause issues, or affect timing, quality, or customer expectation.
• Confer with other engineering and cross functional teams on a frequent basis to ensure all the product developments are coming together seamlessly.
• Create product/ component design and drawings, top level customer saleable drawings/ documents.
• Participate in the building of assemblies in prototype stages, assist in coordinating builds and shipments to support the team and the customer.
• Strive to simplify the design, make it easy to manufacture, error proof, attempt to anticipate areas of large variation and attempt to maximize robust product design.

• Electrical/Mechanical degree or Mechatronics or Equivalent from a university or a community college.
• Minimum 3 years experience in product development from concept to launch, dealing with sales, engineering, and manufacturing departments.
• Knowledge of standard automotive product/ component development /practices, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, DVP&R etc.
• Knowledge of engineering theory and principles of product design relevant to automotive seat industry, such as seat heating/steering wheels heating, seat ventilation, etc.
• Strong ability with common hand tools, machine tools, and in usage of common measurement tools and techniques, six sigma, etc.
• High degree of creativity and analytical skills in order to translate concept into a saleable product.
• Must be familiar with customer's quality/manufacturing/engineering methods and practices.
• Must be familiar with technical information received or issued by in/external customer or supplier eg. Material specifications, testing methods, schedules, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, use Auto-cad/Catia and other similar engineering CAD office tools to create drawings/ documents.
• Must be able to negotiate with internal/external customers using strong verbal and written communication.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to travel as required.
